Costs:

$25.00 for 1 hour – introduction to basic kayaking, paddle strokes and safety
$45.00 for 2 hours
$65.00 for 3 hours
$80.00 for 4 hours.
(*Note: all prices are Carefree Park, Simmie only).

All tours include: 

All necessary equipment, transportation of equipment, guides and instruction. Please note that Customers are responsible for their own transportation and footwear designed to be worn in water.

All tours must be booked in advance.

Kayaking in Grasslands National Park

Grasslands National Park

Take part in one of the regularly scheduled group paddles set up for the Grasslander Classic on July 28th, or the paddles scheduled for July 1st and 15th, or August 12th and 26th (For more information on these paddles head to www.visitcypresshills.tours).

Kayaking the Frenchman River

Eastend, SK

Enjoy an easy two hour guided river tour flowing with the current, leaving from the Town of Eastend, along the Frenchman River, taking in the natural prairie landscape and the wildlife along the way.

An area rich in palaeontological finds, the exposed rock formations throughout the area are about 80 million years old (Upper Cretaceous), and some of the many fossils found in the area can be viewed at both the T.Rex Discovery Centre and the Eastend Historical Museum, both in Eastend.

Customized tours available on request. All tours dependent on stream flow and water levels at time of booking.

Kayaking Cypress Lake

Cypress Lake Recreation Area

An intermediate to advanced guided trip across Cypress Lake, the headwaters to the Frenchman River, paddlers will paddle across the lake to view the Heglund Island bird sanctuary (Note: the island may not be accessed due to wildlife restrictions). This paddle allows you to view the rolling hills and natural prairie grass that surrounds the lake.  Spanning 7 miles from east to west, and 2 miles at it’s widest area north to south, this paddle launches from the Cypress Lake Recreation Site (between Consul and Cypress Hills Park, which can be accessed from #21 highway.

Trip duration: 2-3 hrs.

Kayaking Swift Current Creek

Carefree Adventure Park - Duncairn Dam

Launching from Carefree Park, just a few miles north of the Town of Simmie, at the entrance to Duncairn Dam (Reid Lake), this easy out and back two hour paddle explores the Swift Current Creek watershed, and is an excellent choice for beginners.

Trip Duration: 2hrs

NEW Tour:  Swift Current Runoff Tour on Swift Current Creek. Open to those with advanced paddling skills in the early season (May to early June). 6 hour duration, fast water, rock gardens and gravel bars. Contact John Smith at Carefree Adventures for more information.
